What is a woman? An object? A painting? Or a person?
I am a mixed-media artist who creates thought-provoking artworks in opposition to the idea of the female nude and the objectification of women. I believe when women support each other, great things can happen.
Being a woman, I want to challenge the male gaze in the European tradition of painting by exploring prominently known stereotypes around women, such as having to love flowers.
I seek to take back control of feminine power by having women including myself as the subject of my project and installation, and using hypocritical ideas to create empowering art. My artworks intend to empower all women, and allow them to celebrate their bodies and free them from the pressure of needing to look ‘perfect’ for men.
So, to put it plainly: A woman is a woman, that is it.
